Slicing Cucumber Trials:
All the cucumbers displayed very good PMR compared
to the standard, which succumbed first to the fungus. But, in the end,
all varieties were heavily infested with PM.
- Cornell's M80Bw x P93F
- Showed the least PMR for the Cornell varieties
- fruits were damaged by cucumber beetles and by the end of the
season 50% of plants were dead
- Cornell's M80Bw x M97F
- Good PMR but produced poorly
- fruits were shorter, lighter in color with smooth flesh, low
spines
- Cornell's M97F x P97Bw
- Best all around producer with the highest average of marketable
yields per plant
- fruits were moderate in length, with little ribbing and smooth
flesh
- Marketmore 86 (standard)
- FCGP composite varieties saved from 2002 (2)
- Showed good PMR but extrememly varied
- Fruits were both spineless and spiny, long and short, dark
and light
