Winter Squash Trial Results:

  • Cornell's PMR Bush Delicata
    • Ranked worst in PMR and showed least vigor
  • Cornell's PMR Bush Acorn
    • Ranked 4th in PMR (40% plants dead at harvest)
    • Last in yield
  • Cornell's Harlequin
    • 3rd best PMR
    • slightly lower yields than Celebration
    • Fruits were uniform
    • Cooked fruits had very good flavor, color and texture
  • Celebration (standard)
    • Best performer for C. pepo varieties
    • Rated 2nd in PMR, 1st in marketable yield, and 1st in vigor
    • There were 3 distinct off types
    • Taste more similiar to delicata than acorns
  • Table Ace (standard)
  • Cornell's PMR Bugle
    • Best PMR of all squash varieties trialed
    • Outperformed Waltham in yield
  • Waltham Butternut (standard)
